The issue of electoral reform is important to all of us living in Ontario.
This is a link explaining the recommendations of the Ontario Citizen's Assembly on Electoral Reform.
Watch it and spread the word. We need to understand how this system works prior to voting in the referendum on October 10, 2007.
Mixed Member Proportional Representation more fairly reflects the diversity of Ontarians than our existing system, Single Member Plurality.
Most democracies have long since dropped SMP because of the inequities in representing the electorate.
The Provincial Government will send out information before election day to voters, however, the sooner we begin to familiarize ourselves with the benefits of MMPR, the easier it will be to make our decision.

1. The number of abortions is Canada is rising and now exceeds 110,000 a year. Each abortion is paid for by you and I as taxpayers. Presently a woman can be nine months pregnant and have an abortion legally the day before the baby would be born. Are you in favour of having some restrictions on abortion?

According to this article tax payer money slated for child care has gone missing. Nobody knows how it was spent. The provinces don't have to file reports. But then again... What's $2 billion dollars among fellow countrymen, right?
Wrong!
The government takes money from hardworking Canadian Taxpayers to pay the cost of administering this country. We, more or less, cheerfully pay those taxes. However to spend those tax dollars, which belong to Canadians, without demanding proper accounting is not ethical. We would not accept it from a business and we certainly cannot accept it from our government.
In an article on May 15, Statscan advised us that 1/3 of Canadian's are self identified as work-a-holics. Are we work-a-holics because we want to or because we have to work hard to pay the burden of inept handling of our tax dollars by our government officials?
Next year the Conservative government anticipates demanding accountability from the Provinces on how federal money is spent. Perhaps Mr. Harper didn't watch the "Bugs Bunny Road Runner Hour" when he was young. Bugs Bunny told Daffy Duck for years that next week Daffy could host the show. Daffy never did host the show! But .... next week!
How would a CHP government be different?
Policy Section 4.5.5. "VALUE FOR MONEY" EVALUATION
Comprehensive evaluation should involve continuous checks of spending controls, and ensure that departments and agencies provide full information to enable M.P.’s to make clear decisions on projects (e.g. cost estimates and whether results can be assessed). "Value for money" evaluation requires civil servants to measure the effectiveness of their programs rather than just having to prove the money was spent for the purpose intended.
That would be a good start! Combined with that, we will ensure that Canadian parents are enabled to provide the best care for their children. We will provide a stay-at-home parent with $1000 per month to make the dream of raising their own children, a reality! That money is trackable and effectively spent!
That's leadership! That's what this country needs!

Report from our Annual General Meeting....
The EDA’s of York Simcoe, Simcoe Grey & Simcoe North joined together for our Annual General Meetings. We started off taking care of our EDA business and then moved to the main event.
Trevor Baker emotionally moved all of us with several songs, including “Song for a Nation”.
Ron Gray summarised for us the history of the CHP and the political factors affecting where we are today.
He reminded us of the broken promise of Stephen Harper which cost Canadian retirees so much of their retirement income.
Ron spoke of the Leftist driving of the Kyoto Protocol. The ‘science’ which is far from proven but has left the real environmental problems of land, air and water pollution stagnating while we will spend our Canadian dollars on purchasing carbon credits.
Ron also spoke of the planned ‘Tobin Tax’ on which the United Nations would like to tax the world’s citizens for all financial transactions.
Ron presented his points clearly, supporting his information in ways which we could all grasp. I eagerly look forward to the next opportunity to hear him speak on the issues which affect us all.
We were delighted to welcome several new members to the CHP.
We also anticipate a growing interest in Parry Sound Muskoka. Will the interest generated on April 30 carry forward to the creation of a new Electoral District Association for the CHP?
