Leader of the CHP, Jim Hnatiuk, to Visit Ontario
You’re invited!
Our Leader, Jim Hnatiuk, will attend a function which York Simcoe Electoral District Association will co-host with Simcoe Gray EDA. We welcome the participation of Newmarket Aurora and Simcoe North EDAs.
All guests are welcome to meet our new leader. Jim is a resident of Halifax, Nova Scotia and has served as our deputy leader since 2005. Jim was elected at our Leadership Convention in London, Ontario, November 2008.
This will be his second tour as leader. The first tour will be through northern British Columbia in February.
This is an opportunity for us to host our leader and to show our support for him, but also to introduce ourselves to people who may not be aware of the CHP or who may have never understood the need for a political party based in the ideals on which Canada was founded.

Action Topics: Spanking Children? Euthanasia?
Spanking Children Bill S209 is currently before the Senate having passed the first reading.
This Bill grants government greater intrusion into our homes. Section 43 of the Criminal Code currently includes, the force used by a figure of authority must not “exceed what is reasonable under the circumstances.”
Bill S209 will amend this section of the Criminal Code to read, a figure of authority “is justified in using reasonable force other than corporal punishment toward a child.” It then provides behaviour for which ‘reasonable force’ can be used. (Underlining is included in Bill S209)

Bloq Quebecois MP, Francine Lalonde, has again introduced a private members Bill to the House of Commons. Although the text of the Bill is not yet available, Notice Paper, No. 14, dated February 12 lists the Bill,
“The Bill is entitled: “An act to amend the Criminal Code (right to die with dignity)”.”
This is a Bill which we need to watch.

Mark April 16-18, 2009 on your calendar!
The CHP Ontario Provincial Council will again be participating at Missionfest at its new venue, the Toronto International Centre.
God willing, our leader, Jim Hnatiuk, will be present on Friday and Saturday to meet with voters in the GTA. Join us there to help in our booth or bring along yourself and your friends to promote the CHP.
There are amazing speakers to hear at Missionfest, such as Tony Campolo and there are many opportunities to discover the various ministries available to Christians.
What an opportunity to build public awareness of the CHP!!
But many people attend Missionfest from outside of Toronto. One of our York Simcoe executive members joined the CHP at Missionfest 2007.
There are approximately 200 Christian organisations which take part in Missionfest and approximately 20,000 people attend to hear speakers and visit the exhibits.
If you are willing to spend a few hours handing out information, talking to guests and raising the profile of the CHP call Vicki Gunn at 905-895-0291.

The election is well behind us and another election looms too closely on the horizon.
So, what did we achieve by fielding our candidates, Ray Luff and Vicki Gunn, in this past election? What did our members receive from their donations to these campaigns?
Did you know that Ray Luff, first time candidate for Newmarket Aurora, started a white ribbon campaign as a protest against the killing of unborn children? There were many white ribbons in Newmarket Aurora… did you wear one? Ray fought because everyday that this message goes unheard over 279 unborn babies die by abortion.
Did you know that Stephen Harper assured Canadians, prior to the election that the Conservative Party would not introduce or support legislation to protect the unborn?
What a difference in values!!
Too often our candidates hear that the CHP will not achieve representation so voting for them is a wasted vote. The truth is voting for a candidate because they will achieve a Parliamentary position, but will do nothing to protect the values which made this country great, is a wasted vote!
Have you told your friends and family that people in countries built on principles contrary to what the CHP stands for live under religious tyrannies, despotic and capricious rulers, subjugation and ethnic strife? We have a rich heritage in this country, one rich in freedoms, which is well worth fighting for.
Too many Canadians have forgotten the Christian worldview which achieved these freedoms.
Too many of us have forgotten Canadians didn’t always kill their children because the child was inconvenient.
Too many of us forget that, we used to be free to speak out about these issues without fearing that somebody would charge us, for our religious values, before a Human Rights Commission.
Did you know that Rev. Stephen Boissoin, of Red Deer, Alberta, was ordered by a Human Rights Tribunal to never speak of homosexuality again.
What about your pastor? Will (s)he face similar repression of teaching Biblical truths?
Let’s all stand up and make this next election the one in which we all unite to defend the freedoms which our heritage has given to us.
Don’t settle for less because less is what you’ll get!

Our members are important to us!

CHP Canada - Affirms Israel's Right to Defend its Civilians!
For years the Israelis have exercised restraint against Hamas terrorists who vow Israel's destruction. The Christian Heritage Party of Canada affirms the universal right of all nations, including Israel, to enjoy peace and national security within their borders.Today there is overwhelming evidence that Israel has had no choice but to restore safety for its civilians through the use of strength. When it can be verified that the Hamas missile attacks will cease and that monitoring agreements can be reached, then the CHP agrees with other nations that have called for both sides to move to a ceasefire.
As with all conflict, the CHP regrets the loss of innocent lives and would ask those opposing the Israeli invasion to focus their anger and frustration not against the Israeli army but against the illegal actions of Hamas. Hamas is in fact committing double war crimes, but no national leader will say this. The Hamas offensive has been launched against innocent Israeli civilians; Hamas then imperils their own civilian population by both launching an offensive from within a civilian enclave and seeking protection from retribution by hiding within that same civilian enclave. The CHP strongly condemns these Hamas war crimes.
The CHP agrees with the statement made by Canadian Foreign Affairs minister Mr. Cannon in that: "Israel has a clear right to defend itself against the continued rocket attacks by Palestinian militant groups which have deliberately targeted civilians. First and foremost, those rocket attacks must stop."
The CHP hopes that the military action will be short term, and suggests that Canada offer to assist in the establishment and the post diplomatic monitoring of agreements.
The CHP does not believe in dealing with organisations which engage in terrorist activities aimed deliberately against innocent civilians, therefore agreements must only be made with a legitimate government body in Gaza.
